Privacy Policy

1Scope Of This Policy

This Policy applies to the AI Product Visibility Shopify application (the "App"), this website, and our support services (together, the "Services"). It covers information we process about your store and its products, and about you as a merchant when you contact us. The App does not request access to your customers, orders, checkouts or analytics, so it does not process your customers' personal information. By installing or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

2Information We Collect

We only collect what we need to score your products, prepare AI suggestions, and operate the App reliably. This includes:

Store & Account Information

• Store details: your store name, store and contact email, store owner name, myshopify.com domain, country, currency, time zone, primary language, Shopify plan, store creation date, and the name of your published theme, provided by Shopify when you install or open the App.
• Plan details: your App plan (Free, Pro or Advance), its subscription status and billing cycle, and how many audits you have used.

Product Data

• Product title, description, handle, product type, status, vendor, tags, SEO title and description, images (URL and alt text), category, options and option values, variants (title, SKU, price, compare-at price, availability), product metafields used as attributes, collections, and created, updated and published dates. Used to calculate your AI Visibility Score, flag issues, and prepare suggestions. Prices and availability are only read, to flag issues such as a price of 0 or a product that's out of stock.

App Activity

• Your scores over time, the audits you run, the AI suggestions they produce (including the product data sent to the AI and its response), and which suggestions you applied, edited or skipped. Used to show your dashboard, Audit History and progress.

Support & Feature Requests

• Messages and details you share with us by email or WhatsApp, and feature requests you send from the App, including whether we may email you about them.

Technical Data

• Standard server logs, such as IP address, request time and errors, collected automatically for security and diagnostic purposes.

Shopify Permissions We Request

• Read and write products: to read your products for scoring, and to write the suggestions you approve.
• Read and write metaobjects and their definitions: to use Shopify's standard attribute values (such as a color or fabric entry), and to create them when an approved value doesn't exist in your store yet.
• Write files: to save the image alt text you approve.
• Read themes: to read the name of your published theme. Themes are never changed.
• Read locales: to read your store's primary language.

We do not collect payment details, and we do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information (such as government IDs or health data). Please avoid including such information in product descriptions or support requests.

3How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to:

• Calculate your AI Visibility Score and run the Category, Content Quality and Shopping Intent checks. This runs on our servers without AI.
• When you start an audit, prepare AI suggestions for that one product: title, description, SEO title and description, image alt text, category, product type, tags and attribute values, for your review.
• Write to your store only the suggestions you tick and apply. The App never adds or deletes products or variants, and never changes prices, inventory or images (only their alt text).
• Manage your plan and audit allowance. Billing is handled by Shopify.
• Operate, maintain, secure and improve the App, including diagnosing technical issues and preventing abuse.
• Respond to support and feature requests, and, where you agree, email you about the feature requests you sent.
• Comply with our legal obligations.

We never sell your information or use it for advertising.

4Our Legal Basis For Processing

Where applicable data protection law requires it (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR), we rely on the following legal bases to process your personal information: performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating and improving the App, your consent where we ask for it (such as emailing you about a feature request), and compliance with our legal obligations.

5AI Features & Automated Processing

Because AI Product Visibility uses artificial intelligence to suggest improvements to your products, we want to be transparent about how that works:

• AI only when you start an audit. Your score and dashboard are calculated without AI. Nothing is sent to an AI model unless you start an audit.
• One product at a time. An audit sends that one product's data (its text, images, options, attributes, tags and SEO listing) to our AI provider, Anthropic (Claude), to generate suggestions. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, data sent through its API is not used to train its models.
• You stay in control. AI suggestions are only proposals. Nothing is written to your store until you review them and click Apply, and you can edit or skip any suggestion.
• No automated decisions with legal effect. The App does not make any fully automated decision that produces legal or similarly significant effects concerning you.
• Record of changes. Every change you apply is recorded in Audit History with its old and new value. Changes can't be undone in the App; to change something back, edit the product in Shopify.

6How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We only share it in the following limited circumstances:

• Service providers. Providers who host our servers, database and backups, and our AI provider Anthropic, which processes the product data of the audits you start. They process data only to provide their services to us.
• Shopify. As required for the App to work on the Shopify platform. Plans are billed through Shopify; we read your current plan from Shopify and never see your payment details.
• Legal & safety reasons. Where required to comply with a subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, ourselves, or others.
• Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy continuing to apply to your information.

7Data Retention

We keep your store, product and App activity data while the App is installed. Your products are synced each time you open the dashboard, and products you delete in Shopify are marked as deleted at the next sync. When you uninstall, your data is kept for 48 hours and then deleted, as described in Section 12. Database backups are kept for up to 30 days, after which deleted data is gone from them too.

8International Data Transfers

Our servers are located in the United States, so your information is stored and processed there, which may be outside your own country. The product data of the audits you start is also processed by our AI provider, Anthropic, in the United States. Wherever your information is processed, it is protected as described in this Policy.

9How We Protect Your Information

All data between Shopify, the App, our servers and our AI provider is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Our backend server accepts requests only from our App server, and access to your store's data is limited to what is strictly necessary to provide the Services. While we work hard to protect your information, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10Your Privacy Rights & Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information:

• Right to access: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Right to rectification: ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
• Right to erasure: request that we delete your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions.
• Right to restrict or object to processing: ask us to limit how we use your information, or object to certain uses.
• Right to data portability: request your information in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
• Right to withdraw consent: where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time without affecting prior lawful processing.
• Right to non-discrimination: we will never penalize you for exercising any of your privacy rights.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 15. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law, and we may need to verify that you own the store before fulfilling certain requests.

11Cookies & Similar Technologies

The App runs inside your Shopify admin and uses Shopify's session tokens to keep you signed in. We don't use advertising or analytics cookies, and we don't track you across other websites. This website loads fonts from Google Fonts, and the Contact page shows an embedded Google Map; these are provided by Google under Google's own privacy policy.

12Uninstalling The App & Data Deletion

When you uninstall AI Product Visibility, the App's access to your store is removed right away. Your data is kept for 48 hours, so reinstalling within that time brings your history back. 48 hours after you uninstall, Shopify asks us to delete your store's data, and we delete your products, audits and their AI suggestions, scores, feature requests and store details. We keep only your store ID and how many free audits you've used, so reinstalling doesn't reset your free audits. Because the App doesn't store your customers' data, requests Shopify forwards about customer data have nothing to return or delete. To request deletion of your data at any other time, contact us using the details in Section 15.

13Children's Privacy

The App is intended for use by Shopify merchants and their authorized staff, and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 16. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

14Changes To This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. If we make material changes, we will provide reasonable notice, such as by updating the "Last Updated" date above or notifying you within the App. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
